THE BRIEF
Metal core band Bury Tomorrow requested a redesign of their album ‘Cannibal’, with a focus on the lead song ‘Choke’. The song is about feelings of being trapped and not being able to be who you want to be or say what you want to say. The cover needed to show this in a creative way, whilst still encompassing the band's aesthetic. Their fans are typically UK based and seek solace in this style of music.
THE SOLUTION
Crafted a metal sculpture using varying thicknesses of wire for contrast, these were strategically tangled to depict pressure and feeling trapped. You can sense the chaos when looking at it but as it’s contained in a sphere it shows how people can feel on the inside while the nails poking through show them wanting to break free. The colours are in keeping with the band's aesthetic. The typeface was chosen to add an additional feeling of pressure with it being uncomfortably close to the edges. The band name and album title would be printed with a gloss varnish for added impact.
